Text Box: Grain Dryer Features
Text Box: Unique Burner Design
Burner Profiling for even column temperature & moisture
Highest moisture removal at the lowest BTU/lb. water
Factory plumbed from manifold to burner
Includes manual Gas Safety Valve
Bio-fuel
Uses grain dust & foreign material as Bio-fuel
Increase energy savings
Produces cleaner grain
Text Box: Dust Burning: Injection of dust into the gas flame using profiling of special high air flow top dust retention burner. Example: 1000 Bu x 56 lbs corn or wheat = 56,000 lbs product. At 1% removal of dust this equals 560 lbs of dust (both corn & field). From testing, QED uses 5700 BTU usable energy per pound, which equals 3,192,000 BTU. The energy needed from gas is figured at 3,900,000 BTU. The total energy used after start-up with a 5 to 7 point moisture removal is 40,700 heating CFM with a temperature rise on corn of 75 degrees F. 40,000 x 75 x 1.089 = 3,767,395 BTU. Actual field tests at an outside ambient temperature of 30 degrees F have shown less than 3,000,000 BTU of gas being used instead of the 5,400,000 BTU that would be required if a perfectly dust free product was dried. Your results will vary depending on amount of dust and crop type.
Text Box: Fan design & motors were selected for highest CFM/watt
Our many smaller direct drive fans yield higher CFM/watt
Reduces noise since fans are inside columns and enclosure fans selected & designed for the real static pressure that the dryer operates with inlet guards, fan inlet curvature, fan internal pressure, exhaust conditions, burner static pressure, positive & negative plenum & cooling pressure.
High Air flow & high mixing with dryer air flow for consistent overall temperatures
5 year QED Warranty on Motors
Fan wheel, motor, & housing redesign saves 30% over older designs
Text Box: Recycles two-thirds of the air back to the heating fans
Increases product quality by giving the product time to steep before cooling or lower heating in rice dryers.
Reduces fuel cost by starting to gently remove heat from product

Heat Exchanger

Text Box: Ultra High Efficiency Fans & Motors
Text Box: Evenly dries product by exchanging dry interior grain with wetter exterior grain
This, coupled with the gentle drying of the racking system, increases product quality and test weight
Reduces fuel cost by eliminating over and under drying across columns

Metering System

Text Box: Designed for easy fine-tuning of dried grain distribution by volume and by moisture testing and metering pan balancing
Fine-tuning is done with the striker plates to yield quality dried products
Increases capacity, quality of grain, test weight, storability, and saves fuel
Text Box: Energy savings-2/3 of air recycled
30 year dryer life
Less pollution
Less noise, fans are enclosed by grain columns and enclosure.
Self-cleaning bottom-heavy particles inside enclosure self-clean down into the wide flange trough and screw conveyor
Eliminates a lot of cleaning
Optional enclosure insulation package available for Northern climates

Full Enclosure

Text Box: Instead of losing 25-50% of your dryer’s capacity in 5-10 years, QED protects your investment with all stainless-steel exhaust screens that can be pressure washed before the season and completely cleaned. Other dryers using galvanized screens begin to lose capacity one week after being washed. These screens possess a galvanic or healing action which starts to close the holes in the screen. Rust & interior dust particles add to the problem stopping airflow in 30-40% of the screen area.
QED’s Interior Milo Panel and Racking system eliminates any build up.
18 gauge heavy duty stainless steel exhaust screens meets federal EPA emission standards, cleans easily, and prevents rust and galvanization action to insure full capacity for the 30 year life of the dryer.

Screens: Eliminate Dryer Old Age Syndrome

QED Racking System (Louvers)

Text Box: Quality dried product
Dries sensitive and specialty crops—rice, milo, food grade quality
Increases capacity
Prevents screen hole blockage
Reduces risk of fires
Eliminates plenum & most cooling screens
Text Box: Expandable by module length
Optional discharges available
Oversized drives when expansion is expected
Sizes from 10” to 14”

Auger

Garner Bin

Text Box: Distributes product to both ends of each module
Has roto-bindicators to indicate that dryer is full
Galvanized metal, welded, and painted

Frame

Text Box: Made from square structural tubing and heavy duty galvanized material, welded and painted.
The Frame holds the paneling, conduit supports, gas plumbing supports, reinforces the grain columns, and provides the strength for the Lifting Lugs
Makes the modules withstand both high winds and earthquakes
Text Box: Shuts down dryer in overheated condition
We have exhaust limits in the top exhaust, middle recycling, and even in the cooling section recycling air.
Exhaust limits are the cheapest insurance policy you can buy. Stop problems before they happen!

Exhaust Limits

Text Box: Test circuits for easy troubleshooting from the panels
Easy operation without the need for complicated computers or software
Easy serviceability—most problems can be fixed over the phone, saving down time
Automatic moisture control system
QED control panels are factory built and tested.

Control Panel

Roto-bindicator

· Motorized paddle type

· Not affected by air pressure

· Gives you a positive reading when Dryer is full and sounds a horn if Garner becomes low.

PGG Wrightson in Auckland, New Zealand started with a MM2000 in 2005, and after a couple of years in operation and thorough research, they proved that QED Millennium Magnum series really was worth its weight in gold. They expanded their MM2000 to a MM3000 in 2008.
